We are requesting the support and solidarity of the global network of independent media to help us cover the day of Mexican Presidential Elections, 2 of July, 2006. This day will not only see the election of who will administer capitalist greed in Mexico for the next 6 years, but also a convergence of mobilizations throughout the country, that will most probably be met by the repressive forces of the state.

Just two months ago, May 3 and 4, the federal, state and local police attacked the residents of Texcoco and San Salvador Atenco, Mexico State, leaving many injuries, rape, political prisoners (30 to the date) and two deaths.

The other campaign has since declared that it will now allow there to be presidential elections as long as there remain political prisoners from Atenco, and agreed in its national assembly to hold national actions
July 2nd.

Then the state of Oaxaca exploded when, after several weeks of a camp-out of 10s of thousands of teachers, and the blockade by the same of the airport of Oaxaca, the police decided to evict the teachers. 3 airplanes of army troups were sent to Oaxaca along with federal police officers. Again: injuries, rape, prisoners and death. Since the police aggression, more social organizations from across the state have joined in the struggle.

Reports and rumores are circulating from around the country: highways that will be blocked in order to block the vote, areas where the plan is to burn the ballots, other actions far less confrontational, others that we will have to wait to see what happens.

In any case, given the very recent precedent of state violence in Oaxaca and Atenco, it seems assured that July 2nd will be a violent day in Mexico. We hope we will be proven wrong, but we intend to prepare for the worst.

(2) translations. if you are far away in a remote corner of the world, an easy way to help out is by translating material that already exists. or by accompanying us in irc july 2nd and translating important information.

Solicitamos que el apoyo y la solidaridad de la red global de medios
independientes ayudarnos cubre el día de Elecciones Presidenciales
mexicanas, 2 de julio, 2006. Este día no sólo verá la elección de que
administrará la avaricia capitalista en México para los próximos 6 años,
pero también una convergencia de movilizaciones a través del país, eso
hace la mayoría del sea encontrado probablemente por las fuerzas
represivas del estado.

Apenas hace dos meses, el 3 de mayo y 4, el federal, el estado y policía
local atacaron a los residentes devTexcoco y San Salvador Atenco, el
Estado de México, saliendo muchas heridas, la violación, presos
políticosv(30 a la fecha) y dos muertes.

La otra campaña tiene desde que declaró que ahora permitirá ha las
elecciones presidenciales tan largo como allí se queda presos políticos
de Atenco, y concordado en su asamblea nacional tener 2 nacional de
acciones julio.

Entonces el estado de Oaxaca estalló cuando, después de varias semanas
de un campo-fuera de 10s de millares de maestros, y del bloqueo por el
mismo del aeropuerto de Oaxaca, la policía decidió desahuciar los
maestros. 3
aviones de milicianos de ejército fueron mandados a Oaxaca junto con
policías federales. Otra vez: las heridas, la violación, los presos y la
muerte. Desde que la agresión de policía, mucho más de las
organizaciones sociales de a través del estado ha unido en la lucha.

Los informes y los rumores circulan de alrededor del país: autopistas
que se bloqueará para bloquear el voto, las áreas donde el plan deberá
quemar las votaciones, otras acciones mucho menos contencioso, los otros
que tendremos que esperar para ver lo que sucede.

En todo caso, dado el precedente muy reciente de la violencia del estado
en Oaxaca y Atenco, parece aseguró que 2 de julio será un día violento
en México. Esperamos que seremos la injusticia probadas, pero pensamos
preparar para el peor.
